Hello there, my name is Francesca Fotia.
I am a Master’s student in the Master of Arts in Counselling Psychology (MACP) program at Yorkville University, currently completing my clinical practicum. I previously graduated from York University with an Honours Bachelor’s degree in Psychology.
I believe that reaching out for support can take courage, and I want my clients to feel welcomed, respected, and heard from the very first conversation.
My approach to counselling is warm, collaborative, and person-centred. I believe you are the expert on your own life, and my role is to walk alongside you as you explore your experiences, understand patterns that may be affecting you, and work toward meaningful change. I strive to create a space where you can be open and honest without feeling judged or pressured to have everything figured out.
As a counselling psychology student, I approach my work with curiosity, compassion, and a commitment to continued learning. I value building a genuine therapeutic relationship and believe that feeling understood and respected is an important part of the counselling process.
You do not need to have all the answers before coming to counselling. Sometimes, simply having a safe space to slow down, talk things through, and make sense of what you are experiencing can be an important place to start.
I look forward to meeting you and being part of your journey.
